Communications, Marketing and Publicity Coordinator

Madman Entertainment is one of Australia’s leading independent film and television distributors - creating, licensing and distributing content on disc, into cinemas and to film festivals, digital platforms, TV channels and VOD services nationally. We’re passionate about special interest content like anime, documentaries, indie and Australian films and collectable TV series.
We are looking for a Communications, Marketing and Publicity Coordinator to work within Madman Anime Group, the team that looks after our anime-related products, services and events. The person we are seeking is a talented junior-mid level publicist with a minimum of 2 years experience working within the arts, entertainment or related industries. Reporting to the Head of Social Media and Anime Marketing, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing anime marketing projects and publicity campaigns – with a specific focus on raising awareness around our anime festival events around Australia.
You will work closely with a talented internal group of marketers and an in-house creative team, as well as liaising and collaborating with external agencies. You will encounter the challenges and rewarding nature of working closely with remarkable content, and have the opportunity to work on a range of varied campaigns. As a small team, the following list of key responsibilities is an indication of the role, however we work in a dynamic and flexible environment where all team members contribute and are exposed to the full spectrum of distribution activity.

  • Brief, coordinate and create publicity and marketing materials
  • Distribute key materials to internal stakeholders, media and external agencies
  • Copywriting for a range of marketing collateral
  • Regularly create engaging social media content
  • Maintain targeted PR databases
  • Implement publicity campaigns for Madman Anime Festival
  • Regular analysis and reporting on publicity and promotional activity


  • 2-3 years of publicity/communications experience
  • Experience or direct exposure to arts/entertainment industry
  • Experience working on events (preferred, not essential)


  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Has excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Is a problem solver and able to work independently to manage projects
  • Is comfortable with work outside regular hours
  • Remains calm under high pressure situations 
  • Possess a tertiary qualification in communications or marketing (preferred, not essential)
